Materials and traceability
Recycled content, certified sourcing and recyclability answer different questions. Start with a named material and the evidence needed for the statement you intend to publish.
| Statement | What it addresses | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| Recycled content | Fiber composition of a named grade | Supplier declaration and the stated content basis. Brown appearance is not evidence. |
| Certified sourcing | A defined sourcing and chain-of-custody system | Valid scope and order-specific claim; a mill certificate alone does not certify every converter. |
| Recyclability | Collection and processing of the finished construction | Review the destination system and the combination of layers, adhesives and components. |
| Reduced material | A change in the amount used | Compare equivalent finished performance; a lighter pack that fails in use is not an equivalent result. |
A useful record identifies supplier or grade, specification, relevant claim and the order to which it applies. Keep evidence with the approved material reference so a later substitution is visible.
For an FSC claim or label, establish the applicable chain-of-custody and trademark requirements before adding artwork. A reference to FSC in a guide is not proof of Lemon certification or a product-label authorization.

Lamination, metallic decoration and coatings change the construction. Avoid a blanket claim based only on the base paper.
Test writing, folding, opening and protection on the proposed alternative before accepting a substitution.
State the destination, the exact statement you need to make, acceptable material alternatives and any supporting evidence your organization requires. Material availability and eligible claims belong to the confirmed specification.
This page explains how to evaluate statements. It does not publish a certificate, a carbon calculation, a recycled-content percentage or an environmental guarantee for Lemon products.
No. Brown paper may use virgin, recycled or blended fibers. Request the information for the selected grade rather than judging composition by color.
No. The applicable supply-chain scope, claim and trademark authorization must be established for the order before the logo is added.
